Description
This is a Victorian rendering of the famous work of 1614 by Guido Reni, Aurora leading Apollo and the Muses. The Baroque masterpiece is in the Palazzo-Pallavicini-Rospigliosi in Rome. The original Reni work is a fresco painted on the roof of the garden house of the palace. It is 700 cm wide and 280 cm high and was produced when the artist was thirty-nine years old. He was a leader of the Bolognese School from which city he came and where he died. This Classical masterpiece was produced in 1868. William Ayerst Ingram was a Victorian artist who was born in Surrey. At the age of twenty-seven he moved to Falmouth, Cornwall where he joined the Impressionist community of artist becoming fast friends with Henry Scott Tuke and Jack Downing with whom he founded the Famluth Art Gallery. He died in 1913.
