This is a reproduction of Young Self Portrait of 1629 by Rembrandt. This oil on oak panel was created by the Master when he was about twenty-three years old. This was five years after he had opened a studio in Leiden with his friend Jan Lievens. He began taking students in 1627 and in the same year as the completion of this work he was discovered by Constantijn Huygens who engineered his getting important commissions from the court in Amsterdam. This began Rembrandt's success. This early work measures 8.9 by 7.4 inches and is in the possession of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
