Treasures of Satan by Jean Delville, 1895Classic Modern Belgian Symbolist Art PrintThis is a reproduction of “Treasures of Satan” of 1895 by Jean Delville. The artist was thirty-two years old at the time of this creation having founded the Salon d’Art Idealiste a year before. He became one of the leading lights of European Symbolism. By the time of this work, however, Delville’s career was waning and he was largely forgotten and ignored by the time of his death in 1953. Exhibitions in London and Paris in 1968 and 19172 respectively marked the beginning of a revival of interest in his work. He is now recognized as one of the pioneers of Symbolism with an important impact in the history of art. This masterpiece is an oil on canvas measuring 338 by 368 centimeters and is in the Musees Royaux des Beaux Arts in Brussels. If you are interested in commissioning an oil painting on canvas of this art print, please send me an email attroy@trycap.com.
