This is a reproduction of "The Prayer of Christ on the Mount of Olives" of 1730 by Sebastiano Ricci. This masterpiece was created when the artist was seventy-one years old. He was a Late Baroque artist of the Venetian school. He began as an apprentice at the age of twelve. He moved to Bologna after a scandal in Venice and began collecting commissions in 1682. He traveled to London and Paris for further commissions and returned to Venice in 1718 a wealthy man. He continued to work though his advanced age and influenced an entire school in Venice where he died in May, 1734.
