This is a reproduction of “Washing the Horse” of 1909 by Juaquin Sorolla. Sorolla was born in Valencia in 1863. Orphaned at the age of two, he began studying painting in 1877 and went to Madrid four years later to study in the Museo del Prado. In 1885 he moved to Rome and Paris. He returned to Spain in 1890 and within three years was the acknowledged leader of the Spanish modern movement. He maintained that position with prodigious creativity until he suffered a stroke in 1920. He died three years later. This masterpiece is an oil on canvas and measures 80.7 by 98.4 inches and resides in the Sorolla Museum in Madrid.
