Artist's Description
This is a reproduction of “The Sower” of 1888 by Vincent van Gogh. This is a masterpiece of Dutch Impressionism created when the artist was thirty-five years old, soon after arriving in Arles in the south of France. He dreamed of founding an artist colony there, but those plans did not materialize. He filled his days with walking trips in search of subjects to paint. During his entire artistic career Van Gogh had been fascinated by the depictions of agricultural workers by Millet. This is an homage to one of the master’s great works in which Van Gogh infused much more color as he had always wanted to do. This masterpiece was an oil on canvas and measures 25.2 by 31.7 centimeters. It is in the Kroller-Muller Museum in Otterlo, the Netherlands.
