Description
This image is a classic representation of the Christian Trinity: God the Father in heaven gazing down on the Suffering Son, Jesus, being comforted by the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. This was the traditional imagery and this Renaissance image harkens back to the manuscripts of the Middle Ages. This Biblical event is depicted in the classic style of the Middle Ages in this reproduction from the Psalter of Queen Mary from the sixteenth century.
