Artist's Description

This is a reproduction of “Le Berger, The Shepherd” of 1808 by Felix Boisselier. He was born in 1776 and was an French historical painter born at Damphal in France. In early life he was employed as draughtsman in a manufactory of decorative papers. At the time of the Revolution he was thrown into prison, and after regaining his liberty entered the studio of Regnault. In 1805, and again in 1806, he obtained the grand prize in painting, and towards the end of the latter year went to Rome, where he died in 1811. This painting is in a private collection.

Felix Boisselier

Troy Caperton was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1949. Raised in South Louisiana from 1953, he graduated from Baylor University in 1976 and pursued a Masters in History at the University of Louisiana until 1988 when he moved to Austin, Texas. For over ten years Caperton has been selling his original art and reproductions of original work and the masters through various portals on the Internet. One of his works won a Jurors Prize at Austins Art Erotica in 2010. He has always been employed in helping positions and continues to produce works for the enjoyment of the public.
