Artist's Description

This is a reproduction of Caspar David Friedrich's "Landscape with Solitary Tree" of 1822. This work represents the quintessence of the German Romantic movement in its concentration on landscapes. This particular artist attempts to lend a poetic nature to his images. His use of trees are symbolic of the strength of the German people in their eternal search for freedom.
