This is a reproduction to Jean Baptiste Camille Corot's masterpiece “La Bacchanal at the Spring” of 1872. Corot was born on July 16, 1796 in Paris. He did not begin a full-time career in art until he was twenty-six when he began painting landscapes in oil. He studied in Italy from 1825 to 1826 as was the habit of French painters of the period. He returned to France and continued to paint landscapes, coming into contact with members of the Barbizon school. In 1835 he finally created a sensation in the Paris Salon with his Agar dans le desert. His career continued to modestly improve and he was inducted into the Legion of Honor in 1846. His reputation improved after the Revolution of 1848 and his impressionistic style gained more recognition in the 1850’s. In later life he became a wealthy patron of poor artists and died on February 22, 1875 in Paris. La Bacchanal is a late work of the artist and is an oil on canvas measuring 32.375 by 26.125 inches. Troy Caperton was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1949. Raised in South Louisiana from 1953, he graduated from Baylor University in 1976 and pursued a Masters in History at the University of Louisiana until 1988 when he moved to Austin, Texas. For over ten years Caperton has been selling his original art and reproductions of original work and the masters through various portals on the Internet. One of his works won a Jurors Prize at Austins Art Erotica in 2010. He has always been employed in helping positions and continues to produce works for the enjoyment of the public.
