Artist's Description
This is a wonderful reproduction of George Hitchcock's masterpiece of 1887, Flower Girl in Holland. This American artist was born in 1850 in Providence, Rhode Island and graduated Harvard Law School in 1874. Thereafter he became a painter and studied in Paris. His "Tulip Growing" attracted notice in the Paris Salon of 1885 and established the Egmondse School in Nethrelands which attracted many students. He became a chevalier of the French Legion of Honour, a member of the Vienna Academy of Arts, and the Muchich Secession Society. He died in 1913. This oil on canvas is 31.125 inches high and 58 inches wide and is in the Art Institute of Chicago.

About George Hitchcock
Troy Caperton was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1949. Raised in South Louisiana from 1953, he graduated from Baylor University in 1976 and pursued a Masters in History at the University of Louisiana until 1988 when he moved to Austin, Texas. For over ten years Caperton has been selling his original art and reproductions of original work and the masters through various portals on the Internet. One of his works won a Juror’s Prize at Austin’s Art Erotica in 2010. He has always been employed in helping positions and continues to produce works for the enjoyment of the public.
