Artist's Description
This is a reproduction of Joaquin Sorolla's "El Bote Blanco" created in 1905. This image is a beautiful rendition of an innocent scene by one of Spain's greatest artists and is currently housed in a private collection. Sorolla was born in Valencia in 1863. Orphaned at the age of two, he began studying painting in 1877 and went to Madrid four years later to study in the Museo del Prado. In 1885 he moved to Rome and Paris. He returned to Spain in 1890 and within three years was the acknowledged leader of the Spanish modern movement. He maintained that position with prodigious creativity until he suffered a stroke in 1920. He died three years later.
