This is a reproduction of The Education of Achilles, a 1783 masterpiece by Jean Baptiste Regnault. Regnault produced the painting in 1783 when he was twenty-nine yer old. He was a Parisian whose life at sea was interrupted in 1769 when he was sent to Italy to study painting by Bardin. He won the Prix de Rome in 1776 and in the year of this work he was elected to the Academy des Beaux Arts. He founded a school of art which rivaled that of Jean Jacques David. He died in 1829 in Paris. This masterpiece is an oil on canvas and measures 102.8 by 84.6 inches. Troy Caperton was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1949. Raised in South Louisiana from 1953, he graduated from Baylor University in 1976 and pursued a Masters in History at the University of Louisiana until 1988 when he moved to Austin, Texas. For over ten years Caperton has been selling his original art and reproductions of original work and the masters through various portals on the Internet. One of his works won a Juror’s Prize at Austin’s Art Erotica in 2010. He has always been employed in helping positions and continues to produce works for the enjoyment of the public.
