Our 100% polyester blankets are available in two different styles: plush fleece and sherpa fleece. Plush fleece blankets are soft and fluffy on both sides, whereas sherpa blankets are smooth like a soft sweater on the artwork side (i.e. shorter threads) which provides for a sharper image. This is a reproduction of Compassion, a masterpiece of 1887 by William Adolphe Bouguereau. It measures 261 by 120 centimeters and is an oil on canvas on display in the Musee d'Orsay. Bouguereau was particularly proud of this painting. He presented it twice: firstly at the Salon des Artistes francais in 1897, and then at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. Freed from the constraints of a commission and specially produced for the Salon, this work reveals Bouguereau's consummate mastery. Everything in this masterpiece indicates his faith in academic values: a choice of subject that conforms to the hierarchy of the genres, a monumental format magnifying the scene, and perfect draughtsmanship and painting skills. The painting is much more than just another Christ on the cross. In fact, Bouguereau called it Compassion! to underline the tragic dimension of this episode which is not based directly on any passage in the Gospels. Troy Caperton was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1949. Raised in South Louisiana from 1953, he graduated from Baylor University in 1976 and pursued a Masters in History at the University of Louisiana until 1988 when he moved to Austin, Texas. For over ten years Caperton has been selling his original art and reproductions of original work and the masters through various portals on the Internet. One of his works won a Jurors Prize at Austins Art Erotica in 2010. He has always been employed in helping positions and continues to produce works for the enjoyment of the public.
