Artist's Description
This is a brilliant depiction of a mythological scene as imagined by the famous French artist, Alexandre Louis Leloir. Alexander Leloir was born in 1843 and died at the age of forty-one. He had participated in the Paris Salon for eleven years from 1859 and won second place in the prix de rome in 1864. About four years afer that, Leloir's works shitfted to Romantic images of which this painting is a fine example. The Chariot of Swallows portrays the delicacy, grace and sensuality typical of romantic paintings. The original painting measures 42.2 inches by 29.3 inches and is in a private collection.
