This is a reproduction nof “Academic Stury” by Carle Andrew van Loo of about 1730. Van Loo was born in Nice and arrived in Rome in 1712 when he was aged seven years. He studied there under masters and went to work in Paris in 1723 and won the Prix de Rome the next year. He was employed by the king of Sardinia after 1727. He returned to Paris in 1734 where he enjoyed royal patronage. Louis XV proclaimed him the First Painter of the king in 1762. He had a great success and was most popular up until his death in 1765. The original painting measures 100.7 by 80.5 centimeters and is in the Musee des Beaux Arts de Quimper.

Troy Caperton was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1949. Raised in South Louisiana from 1953, he graduated from Baylor University in 1976 and pursued a Masters in History at the University of Louisiana until 1988 when he moved to Austin, Texas. For over ten years Caperton has been selling his original art and reproductions of original work and the masters through various portals on the Internet. One of his works won a Jurors Prize at Austins Art Erotica in 2010. He has always been employed in helping positions and continues to produce works for the enjoyment of the public.
