Artist's Description

This is a reproduction of “A Forerunner”of 1896 by John Everett Millais. He was sixty-seven years old when he created this work. This is an interesting and unusual depiction of John the Baptist, one of the most depicted figures from the Christian New Testament. Millais was a child prodigy and entered the Royal Academy Schools at the age of eleven in 1840. While in the schools he met William Hunt and Dante rossetti with whom he founded the Brotherhood in 1848 at the age of nineteen. His Christ in the House of his Parents drew him controversial attention within two years and English Art circle were divided in their opinions regarding the new movement. He married the recently divorced wife of an art critic who defended the movement and this drew more controversy to the young Millais. In his later career he began to draw away from the Pre-Raphaelite style and approached more closely the manner of Joshua Reynolds and Velazquez. John Everett Millais

Troy Caperton was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1949. Raised in South Louisiana from 1953, he graduated from Baylor University in 1976 and pursued a Masters in History at the University of Louisiana until 1988 when he moved to Austin, Texas. For over ten years Caperton has been selling his original art and reproductions of original work and the masters through various portals on the Internet. One of his works won a Jurors Prize at Austins Art Erotica in 2010. He has always been employed in helping positions and continues to produce works for the enjoyment of the public.
