Artist's Description
This is a reproduction of Vincent van Gogh's Willows of Sunset of March, 1888 when he was thirty-five years old. This masterpiece is an oil on canvas board and measures 12.4 by 13.6 inches. It is from the artist's period in Arles in 1888 and 1889 and shows his vivid palette to depict the changing of seasons from summer to fall. The work came at the end of a furious period of activity which left the genius physically depleted and lonely. Some commentators have seen in the twisted forms of the trees a reflection of the artist's exhaustion. He was to die two years later. It is in the Kroller-Muller Museum in Otterlo, the Netherlands.
