Description

This is a reproduction of “Half Naked Model” of 1826 by Emile Signol. The artist was an austere Neoclassicist who was a native Parisian and studies under Blondel and Gros. He made his Salon debut in 1824 at the age of twenty years and six years later won the Grand Prix de Rome. He focused his work on history paintings, portraits and genre painting. He was made a knight of the Legion of Honor in 1841 and an officer twenty-four years later. He taught Renoir and Nouy. He died in Montmorency in 1892.
