Description
This is a reproduction of Gustave Courtois' masterpiece “Adam and Eve” of about 1890. The French artist was enrolled in the superieure des Beaux Arts in 1869 when he was seventeen years old. He received a third place medal in the Paris Salon of 1878 and a second place there in 1880.He later taught painting at the Academie de la Grnde Chaumiere in Paris. He won a gold medal in the Exposition Universelle in 1889 and exhibited in the Salon des Beaux Arts for the three years before 1915. He became a knight of the Legion of Honor and died in 1923. This work is an oil on canvas and is in the Musee des Beaux Arts in Basancon, France.
