Description
This is a reproduction of Antonio del Pollaiuolo’s “Battle of Ten Nudes” of 1470. He was born in 1432 Florence and from an early age worked with his father and brother at painting, engraving and sculpture. His depiction of male figures is often characterized by brutality. He moved to Rome in 1484 and his fine attention to to anatomy led his followers to produce some of the greatest masterpieces of the High Renaissance. He died a very wealthy man in Rome in 1498. This reproduction of his engraving, “Battle of Ten Nudes” displays his attention to the details of male anatomy, more attention than had been given this subject since the collapse of the Classical World. The original is in the Galleria degli Uffizi, Florence, Italy.
